Youth Drama Theater is a performing arts club in South Los Angeles. We are a safe place for young talented teenagers and kids to build their skills in singing, acting, dancing, and theater arts. We also have amazing mentors and volunteers who have worked or are currently working in the creative industry. So what do we DO? We produce licensed Broadway musicals. We hold auditions and interviews, cast kids and youth ages 7-17 years of age, rehearse, and put on a show. This gives kids and youth the opportunity to learn, develop their skills, and build their resume with real stage and theater experience for future school/college admissions and professional endeavors.

Private voice lessons, dance classes, and acting workshops are one way of developing your talent and skills. Another way is by DOING IT! When you are in a musical you get the best of all three class types and much more. You get to learn acting and character building from a professional director while playing a part on stage. You get to learn ways to strengthen your singing voice by rehearsing and performing the songs in the show surrounded by your fellow castmates led by your director and music director. You get to learn dance, movement, and technique from the show’s choreographer. All of this you will learn by doing!

Youth Drama Theater is supported by government grants, community partnerships, and generous donations by individuals that we call Friends of YDT. Would you like to be our friend and help us provide for our kids and youth? There are many ways you can help. You can give a donation (one-time or recurring), you can buy tickets to our shows, you can volunteer, you can help spread the word by hosting a fundraiser or posting to your social. We could use the help in anyform it comes. It takes a village… join ours!

At YDT our mission is to provide performance opportunities, introduce youth to different aspects of the creative industry, and provide a safe place where kids can participate in activities and lessons that develop creativity, confidence, and personal growth.

Youth Drama Theater is a performing arts club for the youth of South Los Angeles. Our goal is to provide opportunities for young people to be creative through acting, singing, dancing, storytelling, and tech arts. Our programs and productions are designed to instill pride in our youth as they tackle the art of theater and pride and hope in our community as they support these young artists.
